Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Trisakti Banjarmasin Harbormaster Office and Port Authority (KSOP) issued a circular banning ships to sail from Banjarmasin to the waters of the Philippines.
Head of KSOP Banjarmasin M Takwin Masuku here on Tuesday said a circular on the prohibition of the sail is based on two incidents of piracy that occurred in Philippine waters involving citizens of South Kalimantan.
According to Takwin, with the occurrence of piracy of TB Brahma 12 and BG Anand 12 sailing from Banjarmasin to Philippines on March 15, 2016, followed by piracy of TB Henry and TK Cristi sailing from the Philippines to Tarakan on 15 April 2016, the KSOP from now prohibits the whole ship to sail to these waters.
Letter of the ban, he said, also by electronic command of the Director of Indonesian Sea and Coast Guard Unit (KPLP) and advice from Commander of the Navy Main Base (Danlantamal) XIII.
"In this regard, for the time being ships to sail to the Philippines, especially for the purpose of waters west of Tawi-Tawi and Sulu waters, are banned until a safe condition," he said.
The circular of the sailing ban to ensure no more victims of piracy by suspected Abu Sayyaf group as it happened before.
Oceanus 201 ship helmsman Rukmana Alit said the ban would take effect better for the shipping sector.
"Hopefully this letter will bring good to the cruise world and I hope the government is more aggressive in negotiating and others," he said.
According to Rukmana, piracy and reclination often happens in these waters, but not as big as this year. "A massively piracy only this year by captiving a lot of people. Previously just one or two people held hostage," he said.
Rukmana told, there are some colleagues who once held hostage, and only one year later returned with poor conditions.
"I noticed that the condition of my friend freed from hostage a few years ago is very worrying, as affected by mental disorders, due to the often suppressed," he said.
