Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The government of Banjarmasin introducing sailing along river tourism with new destinations, Kuin Kecil and Bromo Island.
Last Saturday, Head of Banjarmasin Development Planning Board(Bappeda) Ir Fajar Desira and Head of Water Resources and Drainage (SDA) Ir Muryanta invited about 50 members of civil society organizations from Green Communities Forum (FKH), River Care Community (Melingai), Sahabat Bekantan Indonesia (SBI) and community of Antique Bicycle Banjarmasin (Saban) to go down the location.
Two kelotok (river boat fitted with motor) brought the troupe to sail Martapura River from city hall pier to Barito River to witness the village on the water of Bromo Island.
Kelotok then entered a beautiful Kuin Kecil River full of palm trees, rambai padi, putat, jingah, ficus, weeds, lily, sago palm, ferns, and various other coastal plants.
Travelling down the river took about three hours. After Martapura River then the Barito River to enter Kuin Kecil and out again into Basirih area to continue to Martapura Riverto go back to the City Hall pier.
Three volunteers from Korean government assistance through KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency) were also in the group.
Yoon Hee Soo, a lecturer of Korean language at the University of Lambung Mangkurat Banjarmasin, claimed to be amazed to know there were harmoniously beautiful areas in the city of Banjarmasin, such as Kuin Kecil and Bromo Island.
"I used to live in the city, after entering two beautiful area I think I always wanted to go there to enjoy the natural atmosphere which is really exotic," said Yoon in Indonesia language.
Head of Bappeda Fajar Desira recognized the municipal government will develop new tourism in the two regions, such as the island of Bromo called water village will be maintained with a variety of water culture and the various Banjar tribe culture.
Bromo Island area will be reorganized by creating a typical water village with various facilities such as houseboats, floating stalls, floating restaurant, and if possible a floating inn.
While the Kuin Kecil will be maintained its unexploited beauty or guarded with various lush plants adorn the river edge location, making it more attractive and natural.
"We are grateful that there are two tourist destinations said to be "hidden paradise" or some are calling it "a wonderful little Amazon," said Fajar Desira.
