Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin conducted a bilateral meeting with President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ), at the Al Shatie Palace in Abu Dhabi.

During the meeting, the vice president emphasized that cooperation in the construction of the School of Future Studies in Indonesia through collaboration between Mohammed bin Zayed University for Humanities (MBZUH) and Nahdlatul Ulama University (UNU) in Yogyakarta should be realized immediately.

"I urged the UAE president to support the cooperation to be realized immediately," Amin noted in a press statement received here, Thursday.

In addition, he expressed hope for increased cooperation in the efforts to promote moderate Islam, especially through sending imams from Indonesia to preach in UAE mosques.

"Currently, Indonesia has sent 70 imams to the UAE. I am sure, with President MBZ' support, the target of sending 200 imams will be easier to achieve," he remarked.

On the other hand, the vice president praised the cooperation between Indonesia and the UAE in the construction of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and the Islamic Center in Solo, Central Java, that will be inaugurated by Indonesian President Joko Widodo and President MBZ on November 17 2022.

The vice president also expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the support of the UAE government in the construction of the Indonesian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the new Indonesian Ambassador's House.

"Hopefully, we can further strengthen the cooperation and brotherhood of our two countries," Amin stated.

Meanwhile, President MBZ also welcomed all aspirations of Vice President Amin. He also said there were several fields of cooperation between Indonesia and the UAE, especially in technology, to support the development of the School of Future Studies.

"I see Indonesia as a country that has a fairly high capability in the field of technology," he remarked.

In addition, the large population is one of Indonesia's strengths among other Islamic countries, he noted.

President MBZ believes that with all existing indicators, Indonesia will become a great country in the next 25 years.

"(It is) because Indonesia is supported by stability. It will be the most important factor for the progress of a country," the president affirmed.

Moreover, he said that Indonesia had a workforce with high work ethics. Hence, his country was keen to intensify cooperation in the field of employment, including in the areas of technology and the economy, and as fellow Muslim countries.
