The Lampung Provincial Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) and District Military Command (Kodim) 0424/TGM held a social service activity and Healthy Kitchen to Overcome Stunting (Dashat) to reduce stunting cases in Pringsewu District.
"The synergy and involvement of various parties are required to achieve the stunting reduction target," Coordinator for Population Control at the Lampung Provincial BKKBN Sri Rejeki stated in Pringsewu District on Thursday.
Rejeki highlighted that implementation of the program demonstrates that accelerating efforts to reduce the number of stunting cases is part of the government’s priorities.
Stunting poses a threat to improving the quality of human resources since it reduces intelligence and immunity levels as well as lowers productivity, thereby hindering national economic growth as well as increasing national poverty and the inequality rate, according to Rejeki.

Hence, to bolster the resilience of Indonesian families, the BKKBN, in collaboration with various parties, seeks to establish Good-quality Family Villages (Kampung KB), the official noted.
"Through various empowerment and strengthening attempts, Good-quality Family Villages are expected to become the center of the (implementation of) Bangga Kencana (Family, Population, and Family Planning Development) Program and other strategic programs in realizing quality families," she remarked.
Commander of Kodim 0424/TGM Lieutenant Colonel Micha Arruan, represented by Liaison Officer of Kodim 0424/TGM for Pringsewu District Captain Redi Kurniawan, said that in addition to defending the country, one of the duties of the Indonesian military was ensuring the successful implementation of the government’s programs, such as reducing the number of stunting cases.

Regional Secretary of Pringsewu District Heri Iswahyudi expressed optimism that the social service activity would help to improve public health.
"Considering the targets of the activity are children and pregnant women, the attempts to reduce stunting require integrated treatment through two interventions, namely providing specific nutrition to address direct causes (of stunting) and sensitive nutritional interventions to address indirect causes (of stunting)," he elaborated.
The social service activity was conducted in Pamenang Village, Pagelaran Sub-district, Pringsewu District, Lampung Province.
The provincial BKKBN and Kodim also provided several forms of assistance, such as milk, to the residents.
