Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The fishermen catch of crab with all kinds in Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, has fallen dramatically. Production in 2007 by 650.3 tons down to 30.56 tons in 2014.

Kotabaru Regent expert staff for economy and finance H Akhmad Rivai here on Sunday said  with the fall of production the seriousness of local governments is necessary to restrict the catch.

"This is in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries No. 1/PERMEN-KP/2015 on January 6, 2015," said Rivai.

Everyone, in this case the individual or corporate, are prohibited from catching lobster (Panulirus spp), crab (Scylla spp), and crab (Portunus pelagicus spp) in spawning condition.

Rivai explained, catching lobsters and crabs can be done by size. Ie lobster with a carapace length of> 8 cm (over eight centimeters). Crabs with a carapace width size> 15 cm and for crabs with a carapace width size> 10 cm.

"Everyone who catch lobsters and crabs are obliged to release their catch in spawning conditions and or with a size that does not comply with the provisions if it is still alive," he said.

In addition to taking notes, fishermen or groups of fishermen who have caught and not in accordance with the provisions that were caught in a state of death, they then must report to the Director-General through head of harbour as contained in the fishing permit.

However, according to Rivai, a ban on catching lobsters and crabs  has no sanctions, so it is very weak to be applied especially to the authorities.

Therefore, said Rivai, local policy is required by the district in an effort of limitation of catching lobsters, crabs, and crabs in spawning condition by conducting breeding programs and the empowerment of fishermen.

Former Head of Mining and Energy Agency said Kotabaru which consisting of 21 sub-districts and some 140 islands, most of its territory in the water or sea becomes a suitable place for the existence of lobster and crab.
