Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Chairman of the South Kalimantan AIDS Commission (KPA) Mursali revealed base on the data woman is the highest sufferer of HIV/AIDS in the province.


He said here on Saturday, as many as 1,194 people infected according to the data of HIV/AIDS detected in 13 districts and cities in the province until 2015.

Over half, ie 589 sufferers, are women, 177 of whom turned out to be housewifes.

Still, he said, most women infected with HIV and AIDS are women who work as sex workers, by the number of 237 people.

"So we get the case number of women who contracted HIV were 397, and as many as 186 in categories of AIDS," he explained.

Whereas in men, said Mursalin, cases being detected is 574 sufferers, with the number of people with HIV categories 211 and 363 AIDS.

According to him, the trend of a significant increase in cases of HIV/AIDS in the Lambung Mangkurat land was since 2012, with annual increase hundreds of people infected.

Accumulation of data spread of HIV/AIDS in 2012 has reached 591 people, then in 2013 increased to 792 people, and in 2014 became 1,014 people, and in 2015 adds again to 1,194 people.

"These data indicate the spread of HIV/AIDS is critical in our region, so that all should unite to overcome, especially in areas that are the most detected cases found," he said.

He stated, Tanah Bumbu and Banjarmasin city are two areas among 13 districts and municipalities in the province which show many cases found, need to tackle against the spread of the virus not to widespread again.
