After having zero cases, North Hulu Sungai (HSU) District, South Kalimantan, again experienced a spike in COVID-19 to 285 cases by the weekend. 

Acting Head of HSU Health Office Masbudianto in Amuntai, Monday (February 21, 2022) said that the spike in COVID-19 cases might be the spread of Omicron variant has reached the district.

"We are still waiting for confirmation of the samples sent to the Health Research and Development Agency, but if we look at the national cases, even in South Kalimantan,  Omicron has been detected, it is possible that Omicron has spread in HSU," he said.

"After going through waves one and two, the spread of COVID-19 in early 2022 is considered to be the third wave, as many as 285 positive cases of COVID-19 found. Previously we had zero cases for several months," he said.

Masbudianto in the Interactive Dialogue at Kominfo TV appealed to residents to continue to apply health protocols even though they have been vaccinated up to three doses, because new variants have emerged.
