Ten districts and cities in South Kalimantan as of January 12, 2022 were declared free of COVID-19 cases with zero patients in hospitals and special quarantine places.
"Alhamdulilah (praise be to Allah) the decline in COVID-19 cases has been maintained and 10 out of 13 districts and cities have no positive confirmed patients," said Head of South Kalimantan Health Office Muhamad Muslim in Banjarbaru, Thursday.
Three districts and city that still have COVID-19 cases, namely Barito Kuala 3 cases, Tanah Bumbu 1 case, and Banjarbaru 1 case.
Muslim asked the three regions to remain vigilant by conducting maximum tracing in order transmission from patients is known.
However, the areas free of COVID-19 cases were asked not to be careless by remaining diciplined in complying with health protocols, and to keep being alert about the transmission of COVID-19.
At this time, some regions in South Kalimantan that have achieved 60 percent of elderly vaccination iscarrying out vaccination for children aged 6 to 11 years.
"We must keep the spirit of applying health protocols and at the same time optimistic that the pandemic can be more controlled this year, armed with evenly distributed vaccination," he said.
