Head of Banjarmasin Health Office Machli Riyadi reported that the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to 80 percent of more than 700,000 total targeted recipient in the city.
"As of today 80 percent have been realized in the COVID-19 vaccination program in our city," he said here on Sunday (January 9, 2022).
"(But) the achievement for the second dose vaccine is still below 70 percent, we keep striving to boost it up, especially for elderly," he said.
His office has recorded the elderly vaccination has reached 44.05 percent of about 45,000 targeted recipients.
Banjarmasin City Government together with TNI-Polri and other agencies are now focus to quickly realize the elderly vaccination target. Even gifts of basic needs are provided for anyone willing to be vaccinated.
Mayor Ibnu Sina expressed his appreciation to Bank Kalsel and other private companies for supporting the acceleration of COVID-19 vaccination, especially for elderly, through their CSR.
Bank Kalsel, for example, has pledged to prepare 2,000 package of basic needs for supporting the vaccination of elderly.
"We should immediately achieve the target of 60 percent for elderly vaccination, so we could commence the vaccination for children aged 6-11 years," Machli pointed out.
"Hopefully we really build herd immunity by achieving 80 percent coverage of vaccination. We keep being healthy and spiritful and hopefully the pandemic to end soon by the people supporting through vaccination," he said.
Meanwhile, based on the South Kalimantan Health Office's data there is no addition case of COVID-19 in Banjarmasin City until yesterdat. The city recorded 15,876 cases, 15,332 patient hd recovered, and 544 people died.
