Chairman of Higher Education Service Institution (LLDIKTI) Region XI Kalimantan Professor Udiansyah said that the Very Good accreditation achieved by the Awang Long Samarinda School of Law (STIH) became a year-end gift.
He said here on Thursday (Dec 16, 2021) that the National Accreditation Board of Higher Education (BAN-PT) has awarded the STIH Awang Long Samarinda a Very Good accreditation based on its decree No.1024/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/PT/XII/2021, which is valid for five years from December 15, 2021, to December 2026.
The accreditation, which was signed by the Director of Executive Board of BAN-PT Prof Ari Purbayanto Ph.D., was given after the STIH met the nine assessment criteria.
They namely were vision, mission, goals, and objectives; governance, governance and cooperation; students; human resources; finance, facilities, and infrastructure; education; research; community service; tri dharma outcomes and achievements.
Prof. Udiansyah emphasized that very Good accreditation is not equivalent to accreditation B.
"To obtain the Very Good accreditation a private university that has previously been accredited B must fill out the Conversion Supplement Instrument(ISK) form," he said.
ISK is an instrument proposed by the Executive Board of BAN-PT and determined by the BAN-PT Accreditation Council specifically to be used for rating conversion from A, B, and C rating system to the Excellent, Very Good, and Good.
According to him, a private university that has accredited B to be able to obtain Very Good accreditation must meet several conditions as stipulated.
"So, the status of Very Good accreditation is above B accreditation," he said.

The achievement of STIH Awang Long adds the list of private universities accredited Very Good within the LLDIKTI XI Kalimantan from six to seven.
The other six are University of Kutai Kartanegara, The Singkawang Teacher Training and Education (STIKIP), West Kalimantan, and STIE Balikpapan.
Then Poltek Tonggak Equator, Stikes Dirgahayu Samarinda, and University of Muhammadiyah Banjarmasin.
Previously, there were four study programs that obtained A accreditation, namely Public Administration at the Faculty of Social and Politic Sciences of the University of Muhammadiyah Palangkaraya.
Then, Public Administration for master's program, also at the University of Muhammadiyah Palangkaraya, the Faculty of Law of the University of Panca Bhakti (UPB) Pontianak, and D3 Nursing Study Program at the University of Muhammadiyah East Kalimantan.
"I congratulate the entire academic community of STIH Awang Long for their achievement of Very Good accreditation and hopefully other universities are motivated to pursue a better accreditation rating," said Prof. Udiansyah.
Head of STIH Awang Long Samarinda Dr H Husni Thamrin SH MH MM said that the Very Good predicate given by BAN-PT to the college he led was a result of the hard work of the entire team on the campus.
"As chairman, I am very happy and satisfied, because this achievement is in accordance with our hard work," he said.
According to him, as a university that was established in 2016, or only five years old, obtaining Very Good accreditation is something to be proud.
Many preparations must be made, including supporting and encouraging lecturers to carry out research and implement the Tri Dharma.
Especially for research, he said, the campus prepared funds of up to Rp40 million per research. In addition, free facilities are provided for lecturers who write national and international journals.
"For journals, we oblige all lecturers to be able to write. If they don't write, we call them to be given guidance," he said.
Not only for lecturers, students are also given the facility to be able to enter journals for free through campus. One international journal costs up to Rp2.5 million and Rp1.5 million for national.
STIH Awang Long has also collaborated with 10 universities from 10 countries and routinely carries out joint activities, both research and writing.
Among them are research cooperation on international narcotics trade with universities in Taiwan. "The research was entirely funded by the university in Taiwan," he said.
Likewise, universities in Japan, Malaysia, and others, continue to strive to establish cooperation and joint activities.
Currently, 27 research have been produced at the national level and 15 at the international level.
