Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - South Kalimantan provincial government only extends eight from 31 coal mining companies applied for operational license extension.


Acting Governor of South Kalimantan Tarmizi A Karim here on Tuesday said from 31 companies have applied for a permit extension of production only eight were judged to meet requirements. While the rest still must meet the specified requirements, including the need to clear and clean.

"We can not tolerate companies that are not eligible, if it is not feasible then will not be extended. It is for the good of region and people of South Kalimantan," he said.

Furthermore, he said, the government will continue to encourage mining companies to be CnC, so that the environmental improvement efforts could continue to be implemented.

Head of Mining Agency Kustono Widodo said it will continue to re-verify to assess the requirements of the mining company for which a permit can be extended or not.

According to him, it is very important to do, so that companies operating in South Kalimantan become better and competitive, both in production and postproduction, especially for environmental issues.

Several conditions can not be met by companies, among others, have not attach exploration report, still has BNPB arrears, yet CnC, and several other terms.
