Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan 30/10 (AntaranewsKalsel) - As many as 400 out of about a thousand mining permit holders (IUPs) in districts throughout South Kalimantan have not yet been reported by the local government to the provincial government.
Acting Head of the South Kalimantan Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Agency Hanif Faisol Nurofiq in Banjarmasin on Monday said the agency is now continuing to tighten the permit for the mining sector.
According to him, the South Kalimantan government has reviewed about 600 licenses that have been submitted.
On the basis of this study, the agency has revoked as many as 425 mining permits that did not meet mining and environmental requirements.
In addition, he added, there are still about 400 mining permits, which are currently being inventoried in order to fix the mining sector in South Kalimantan.
One of the tightening efforts undertaken by requiring mining companies who have IUP to pay for reclamation guarantees, for five years in advance.
"So before mining, the company have to put the reclamation bail in the established account to guarantee the reclamation for five years," he said.
Under these provisions, there is now hundreds of billions of rupiah of reclamation funds in government accounts.
Associated with environmental conservation, he said, in general, South Kalimantan Government strongly supports the efforts of local governments to maintain environmental sustainability, especially in the mining sector.
However, he added, to date the mining sector is still a mainstay of local revenue with the contribution of regional revenue reached 24 percent.
The amount, he added, is very large and is still one of the main income of central and local government, so it is expected that all policies made will not interfere with investment.
Related to mining rejection in Central Hulu Sungai Tengah (HST), he added, until now there has been no official letter issued by the government to ESDM Agency.
