Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The price of clean water sold by residents using pick up car at in Kotabaru is Rp70.000 per barrel (contents 1,200 liters) in the last week.


Sugian, a resident of Hilir Muara, Kotabaru, on Saturday said initially the price of a barrel of water around Rp50,000, then rose to Rp60,000 and lastly rose again to Rp70.000 per barrel.

"The price of water is rising, after a long period of no rain, plus the Kotabaru state taps water company (PDAM) applying a turn," he said.

Besides the price started to expensive, the quality of water sold in contrast to the quality of taps water. Water sold slightly less clear and colored, and contains aromas of moss or mud.

He said water purchased is only used for bathing and washing. Whereas for cooking and drinking water bought from water refill kiosks.

If rain keep not falls, it is feared the price of water sold by residents will rise again.

Earlier, Director of PDAM Kotabaru Noor Ipansyah said that about 10 days ahead Ulin Mountain Reservoir on the North Pulaulaut, Kotabaru, which has been the mainstay of the fulfillment of clean water for people in urban areas will be dry.
