Archer Irma Yunita has presented a gold medal for South Kalimantan at the XVI National Paralympic Games (Peparnas) in Papua.

She won the gold medal after defeating her closest rival from Central Java and West Java at the archery field of Kampung Harapan, Sentani, Jayapura District, Monday.

Irma Yunita (23) won in the women's 2x50 meter Compound Open total distance.

"Irma Yunita took part in Peparnas for the first time, we are grateful and happy that she was immediately winning the gold medal," said South Kalimantan NPC archery coach Muhammad Amin Priambudi.

Indeed, he said, there were some South Kalimantan NPC's archers competing that day, but in the men's team Recurve Open they only managed to occupy 4th position.

"The women's compound open (Irma Yunita) is the peak we have been waiting for because since this morning the archery team has not managed to get a medal," he said.

Irma Yunita, he admitted, was a talented athlete, even though she was only trained from Juli 2021 by the South Kalimantan NPC, but her expertise was visible. Until she reached her peak in this prestigious national sporting event for people with disabilities. She showed a proud achievement for the region.

South Kalimantan sent 14 archers at the Papua Peparnas with the target of more than 2 gold medals.

"Our target is more than the West Java Peparnas when we won 2 gold medals," he said.
