South Kalimantan National Paralympic Committee (NPC) has secured two gold medals through athletics and badminton in the XVI National Paralympic Games (Peparnas) in Papua.

"The first day of matches at Peparnas today our contingent wins 2 gold medals, 1 silver, and 4 bronzes," said Chairman of South Kalimantan NPC Ahmad Firdaus from Papua, Saturday.

He said that athletic have collected the most medals, namely 1 gold, 1 silver, and 4 bronzes.

The gold medal, he said, was secured by Ansyari in shot-put with a throw of 8.17 meters.

While Ahmad Jajuli bagged silver in discus throwing with a throwing score of 29.20 meters.

Bronze medals were secured by Mulyani in the 400-meter wheelchair race, Dinda Dwi in the 400-meter run, Faujiansyah in discus throwing, and Putri Maulina in the shot put.

Meanwhile, the gold medal in badminton was won by the men's team.

South Kalimantan NPC badminton coach Ir Budi Haryana said that the men's team who won the gold medal were Ody Putera Nugraha, M. David Amrullah, M Aditya Marda, Miseran Fauzi, and Yusran.

"In the semi-final, they defeat the previous Peparnas champion West Java, then in the final they beat South Sulawesi with a score of 2-1," he said.

He said that the South Kalimantan NPC at Peparnas fielded nine badminton athletes, namely 6 men and 3 women.
