Head of Banjarmasin Health Agency Machli Riyadi announced that it has been four days that Sultan Suriansyah General Hospital is empty of COVID-19 patients.
"This is encouraging news, at the Sultan Suriansyah Hospital, which has 125 beds for COVID-19 patients, in the last four days there are no more COVID-19 patients, empty," he said in Banjarmasin, Friday.
The vacancy of COVID-19 patients in this government-owned hospital, he pointed out, shows that COVID-19 cases in the city keep declining and the recovery rate is high.
Even though he acknowledged, there are still 259 active cases, but COVID-19 cases in Banjarmasin have decreased significantly compared to several weeks before when active cases reached 2,000.
Currently, 32 patients are undergoing self-isolation at home, only one occupies centralized isolation at the Social Agency's Education and Training building.
The rest said Machli Riyadi, 227 patients are being treated at a number of COVID-19 referral hospitals in the city.
"Some are at Ulin Hospital, Ansari Saleh Hospital, and some are at private hospitals," he said.
"We hope that people continue to comply with health protocols, get vaccinated, so that everyone can avoid the virus because there is no safe word yet," he said.
Banjarmasin is now obliged to enforce the level 4 community activities restriction (PPKM) until October 4, 2021.
A total of 15,731 people were exposed to COVID-19 in Banjarmasin during the pandemic, while 14,957 people have recovered, and 509 people died.
