Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Head of the Banjarbaru Sanitation and Gardening Agency Rustam Effendi said, the regional waste final disposal (landfill) harm the city.

"The existence of a regional landfill has been detrimental for Banjarbaru because it did not receive aid fund from central," he said after the meeting together all factions of Banjarbaru's Assembly on Wednesday specifically discuss regional landfill which is named "Hutan Panjang" with locations in Sub-district Cempaka.

According to Rustam, since the status of a regional landfill (known here as TPA) in 2009, Banjarbaru did not receive assistance from the central government to manage the landfill.

"We have difficulty asking for assistance to the relevant ministries. The reason is because of its the status, that feared double funding from the state budget," said Rustam.

Due to a shortage of funds to manage the landfill which already holds the status of the region, the municipal government issued its own funds for its management, thus siphoning budget funds for other programs.

Meanwhile, another area that is not the point of the regional landfill could receive funding from the central government, while they become part of the regional landfill program.

The whole faction of Banjarbaru's Assembly rejects the existence of the regional landfill with reason to be more focus on managing waste.
