State-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II (AP II) has disbursed aid to those infected with COVID-19 and conducting self-isolation at home in the

sub-districts of Benda, Neglasari, Batu Ceper, Tangerang, Karawaci, Kosambi, and Teluk Naga, Banten Province.

AP II’s Community Development Team at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport has coordinated closely with sub-district offices to distribute the relief aid to self-isolating residents.

"We hope the aid would help their recovery process,” Muhammad Awaluddin, president director of the state-owned air transport enterprise, stated on Monday.

He noted that the total distributed aid comprised 140 cartons of milk, 35 boxes of vitamins, 25 boxes of hand gloves, 280 boxes of masks, 35 jerricans of disinfectant, 35 jerricans of hand sanitizer, as well as 70 pieces of face shields.

During the last week of July 2021, Soekarno-Hatta Airport will also hand out one thousand relief packages comprising honey, milk, and multivitamins, Awaluddin stated.

Furthermore, AP II offered assistance for self-isolating patients in Bandung, the president director stated.

The Husein Sastranegara Airport fully supports "Forum Bandung Berakhlak" -- a social volunteers association -- that had disbursed assistance in the form of meals, vitamins, and personal protective equipment to self-isolating COVID-19 patients in the Bandung metropolitan area on July 10-14, 2021, Awaluddin pointed out.

In addition, the social forum built a post and meal center at the Husein Sastranegara Airport.

“We (AP II) hope the assistance from AP II airports would reach more people in need as part of our attempts to facilitate the handling of the pandemic,” he stated.

Currently, AP II and other related institutions are focusing on expediting the government’s COVID-19 vaccination program, he remarked.

Since July 3, 2021, the state-owned corporation has opened vaccination centers at 18 airports to help passengers follow the required health protocols in compliance with the COVID-19 Handling Task Force Circular Letter Number 15 of 2021 and Transportation Minister Circular Letter Number 53 of 21.

Over 50 thousand individuals have been vaccinated at the 18 vaccination sites. Soekarno-Hatta Airport serves the highest number of vaccination recipients, reaching some 30 thousand.

AP II has collaborated with the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU), Health Ministry, and online travel agency Traveloka to conduct the vaccination program, the general director stated.

The State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Ministry has appointed AP II as the Banten Provincial Disaster Task Force Coordinator.

In expediting the handling of the pandemic in the province, the stated-owned company has implemented various social programs, comprising the disbursal of personal protective equipment (PPE), medicines, vitamins, essential commodities, as well as ambulances to support the COVID-19 self-isolation program.

AP II Care’s volunteer team has also facilitated the handling of the disaster in Tangerang District, Tangerang City, and South Tangerang City.

The national air transport company, along with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), had also organized blood plasma donation in Tangerang in February 2021.
