Head of Banjarmasin Health Office Machli Riyadi asked everyone to be vigilant and to apply health protocols very strictly because people exposed to COVID-19 have increased by 245. This is the highest in several months.
Machli Riyadi here on Thursday denied that the increase in transmission cases related to Eid al-Adha celebration. "There is nothing related to that (Eid al-Adha)," he said.
According to him, COVID-19 cases in Banjarmasin indeed continue to show a significant increase before Eid al-Adha on July 20. The average addition is above 100 cases.
He said the increase in cases was due to people's slowdown in discipline to adhere to health protocols. He urged all people to re-increase caution, obey the health protocols and follow the COVID-19 vaccination program.

Machli Riyadi reminded Law No. 6 of 2018 concerning health quarantine clearly emphasizes that efforts to prevent, handle, and control COVID-19 cases are everyone's obligations.
"Any member of the community is obliged to assist the government in the efforts of stemming. What the community can do is implement 3M. If 3M is implemented in a disciplined manner, that is the key to controlling COVID-19," he said.
Currently, he said, Banjarmasin is implementing the status of level 2 public activity restriction (PPKM) from 21 to 25 July.
"If the increase in cases continues like this, it is possible that we have to apply the emergency brake or apply level 3 PPKM," he pointed out.
If PPKM level 3 is implemented, face-to-face learning (PTM) is temporarily suspended. In addition, the tightening of public activities is carried out very seriously.
