Tanjung, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - PT Adaro Indonesia donated 1,250 tilapia fish seed for the State Junior High School (SMPN) 2 Haruai, Sub-district Bintang Ara, Tabalong, to assist in developing the local fish pond.


To AntaranewsKalsel, representative of PT Adaro Indonesia, Supianoor here on Thursday said tilapia fish types Best or Bogor Enhanced Tilapia is derived from fish breeding centers owned by the coal mining company, hoping to help the school in fish pond breeding and add earnings to educational institution.

"Its egg production level more than other varieties," explained Supianoor.

The donation was held in conjunction with the opening of the 94th Indonesian Military (TNI) Integrated Village Development (TMMD) program in the SMPN 2 Harui by Pangdam VI (Commander of Military Area VI) Mulawarman, Major General Benny Indra Pujihastono.

In addition to getting help from PT Adaro Indonesia, the Junior High School also gained the support of the Tabalong Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Agency in form of 11,000 catfish seed originating from Fish Seed Center (BBI) Kambitin Village, district of Tanjung.

Sowing seeds of tilapia and catfish performed by Regent Tabalong Anang Syakhfiani, South Kalimantan Governor Rudy Arifin and Danrem 101/Antasari Col. Inf Ras Muhammad Abduh after reviewing the TMMD location.

Based on the data in the Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Agency, aquaculture fish production in this region is quite high at 4,427 tons annually. Most production comes from fish cages 2,331 tonnes, while 2,077 tonnes of fish pond and rice mina 18.4 tons.
