South Hulu Sungai (HSS) Regent H Achmad Fikry conducted the first harvest of tilapia managed by Anugerah Fish Farming Group (Pokdakan) in Batang Kulur Tengah Village, Sungai Raya Sub-district. He hopes this village becomes HSS's biofloc village.
He said he had seen firsthand the community activities in farming fish using biofloc system. It turned out there are many biofloc enthusiasts and consumers of tilapia. This is what is expected that the community can grow independently.
“We just saw the biofloc cultivation was self-help conducted, besides tilapia, there are lobster and papuyu (climbing perch). Deputy head of pokdakan also said that the community's need for tilapia can be met with the presence of biofloc,” he said, Wednesday (July 7, 2021).
The government, he said, will always support and assist with technology to strengthen the knowledge and experience of fish farming groups.

Head of Fisheries Agency H Saidinoor said in December 2020 the agency provided seven biofloc ponds to Pokdakan Anugerah as government assistance in the 2020 fiscal year.
Currently, biofloc has succeeded in producing economic value tilapia with an average weight of over 200 grams per head.
"One member of the group acts as a retailer of cultivated fish, so there is no difficulty in marketing. Besides, the current market demand is quite high," he said.
Also attending were Deputy Regent Syamsuri Arsyad, the District Secretary H. M. Noor, heads of related agencies, head of Sungai Raya Sub-district, chief of Batang Kulur Tengah Village, and members of Pokdakan Anugerah.
