An earthquake of magnitude 5.2 struck Sumba Island in East Nusa Tenggara Province on Wednesday morning, according to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).
The epicenter of the earthquake, which hit at 7:38 West Indonesia Time (WIB), was located at 9.48 degrees southern latitude and 119.71 degrees eastern longitude, or 20 kilometers northeast of Walbakul, East Nusa Tenggara, at a depth of 49 kilometers, the agency stated.
No early tsunami warning was issued, the agency noted.
An earthquake of magnitude 5.2 is considered to be of moderate intensity and capable of causing considerable damage on land.
