Regent of Barito Kuala (Batola) Hj Noormiliyani AS when she launched the Permata Bunda Program as an effort to accelerate stunting reduction said that stunting in the district currently stands at 14.62 percent.

The Permata Bunda Program (namely supplement food intake for pregnant women and toddlers) toward Barito Kuala free from maternal and infant mortality, and stunting, on Monday at the Mandastana Sub-district office, Monday, was marked by providing additional food, toddler learning packages, delivery preparation packages, blankets, towels, healthy snacks, basic food, learning tools, and educational game kits.

The packages which came from PKK, DWP, Health office, Indonesian dentist Association (PDGI) of Batola, and PPKBP3A office were symbolically handed over by the Regent accompanied by providers. 

The event was attended by Deputy Speaker of DPRD Hj Arpah, Forkopimda members, related SKPDs, and all sub-districts heads with chairwomen of the sub-district TP-PKK.

Noormiliyani said that this is one of Batola's priority program in the form of providing food to malnourished toddlers, undernourished toddlers, pregnant women with chronic energy deficiency, as well as pregnant women and toddlers from poor families as an effort to restore the nutritional status of toddlers and pregnant women to good nutrition.  

The Permata Bunda program will be carried out in a sustainable manner in order to accelerate the reduction of stunting to the national target of 14 percent by 2024. 

The target of the Permata Bunda program in 2021 is 5,201 pregnant women and 3,895 toddlers with funds from the Batola budget, Health Operational Assistance (BOK) for puskesmas, and village and urban village budget.

She stated that the government of Batola is serious in its efforts to handle the problem of malnutrition and stunting. Not only specific intervention but also intervention in terms of sensitive nutrition.
