Head of the Tanah Laut Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) Andris Evony said that the district has a handful of poor people who tend to be less productive and do not want to leave their comfort conditions.

This is the mental condition that the district government wants to change. "By nature, there are definitely poor people, but how we manage it so that it doesn't have a negative impact on welfare," said Andris.

He was speaking when the Tanah Laut Poverty Reduction Coordination Team (TKPKD) held technical guidance (Bimtek) for the preparation of plan documents and audience at the Bappeda office, Monday.

The Bimtek presented resource persons from the South Kalimantan TKPKD.

Andris said that Tanah Laut targets that poverty in 2023 is at least 4.35 percent. "Don't let it be 5 percent," he said.

Although the current poverty rate in Tanah Laut is below the provincial and national, Andri hopes it will not make the district to be complacent.

"We should not be proud, because it still contributes to poverty at the national level," he reminded.

The efforts of the Tanah Laut government to overcome poverty, he said, among are collaborating programs with related parties, such as e-Warung, social assistance funds in sub-districts, home renovation programs, collaboration with organizations programs, and BPJS health insurance for the community.
