Tanah Laut is set to be the South Kalimantan's district free of extortion. The launch in Banjarmasin on Tuesday (June 22, 2021) was attended by the Chief of Illegal Levies Eradication Task Force (Saber Pungli) Comm. Gen. Agung Budi Maryoto.
"We are very grateful and appreciative of the South Kalimantan government for initiating Tanah Laut to become a pilot project for free of extortion," said Agung Budi Maryoto, after the declaration.
Agung, who once served as the South Kalimantan Police Chief, encouraged the local Saber Pungli team to be more active to disseminate, especially in the aspect of prevention that should be prioritized. He pointed out that prevention is better than taking action after illegal levies occurred.
"The commitment has been made, Insya Allah (God Willing) South Kalimantan free from extortion, especially in the bureaucratic aspect of public service, which is often complained by the public," said the three stars general who is also the National Police's General Supervision Inspectorate (Irwasum) Chief.
Meanwhile, acting Governor Safrizal said that the declaration of Tanah Laut as the city free of extortion is an effort to reach a world-level investment province and to realize a public service bureaucracy without corruption.
"People give graft or extortion because of complicated services. It's time for our service to be faster, easier, cheaper, and better," he pointed out.

Regent of Tanah Laut Sukamta stated that the spirit of anti-extortion must continue to be inflamed throughout life order so that the extortion that has been "entrenched" can be rooted out through joint commitment, both from the side of officers who provide services and people who are served.
Agung said Tanah Laut will be contested nationally and he hopes it will be consistent, so when the evaluation and assessment come it will be the best.
The declaration was attended by all the District Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) who signed the fact of integrity, namely Police Chief AKBP Cuncun Kurniadi, Commander of 1009/Pelaihari Military Command Lt. Col. Inf. Adi Yoga Susetyo, and Chief of Prosecutor's Office Ramadani.
From the South Kalimantan Forkopimda were acting Governor, the Regional Monitoring Inspectorate (Irwasda) Sr Comr Heri Armanto Sutikno represented South Kalimantan Police Chief Insp. Gen. Rikwanto, Commander of 101/Antasari Military command Brig. Gen. TNI Firmansyah, and Assistant Intelligence Officers of Prosecutor's Office Abdul Rahman representing Chief of Prosecutor's Office Rudi Prabowo Aji.
