Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Trisaksi Port Police (KPL) will deploy bloodhounds to help prevent drug trafficking in the area.

"This is to minimize drug trafficking and we will use bloodhounds in the operation," said Trisakti KPL chief Kompol Fihim here on Tuesday.

He said it is going to be a routine agenda and KPL officers will search ship passengers disembark in Trisakti Port Banjarmasin.

But no certain schedule, it will be spontaneous to anticipate a leakage of the operation to drug dealers or suppliers who are trying to break through port gateway.

"All operations at the port will do in secret and no day or time can be told so as not to leak out," said the man who has just begin to serve as the Trisakti KPL chief.

So far, KPL just perform a manual inspection that make it hard to track the presence of drugs. As a new breakthrough, the examination of passengers and goods will be aided by the use of trained sniffer dogs.
