Kotabaru Deputy Regent Andi Rudi Latif said on Thursday that the district government will prioritize and focus on prevention rather than overcoming forest and land fires.

The reason is that the tackling will be very costly and involve many people.

"So we will focus on work planning related to prevention and as soon as possible we will meet with Forkopimda and related agencies," he noted in a press statement.

he also agreed with what the Provincial Secretary suggested that if possible a small portion of the village fund to be allocated for forest and land fire handling.

"This is based on the direction of Regent and Deputy Regent. We are ready to handle it," he said.

Meanwhile, regarding supervision, the Head of Kotabaru Inspectorate H Akhmad Fitriadi stated that his party is ready to oversee the prevention process from planning to implementation.
