Host of the National Quran Recitation Competition, or Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ), for the provincial level of South Kalimantan, Tanah Bumbu District won third place.

Regent of Tanah Bumbu H. Zairullah Azhar in Batulicin on Wednesday said the ranking of the championship was based on the decision of the 33rd South Kalimantan MTQN Board of Judges.

"Banjarmasin is in the first place, second is Banjar District, third is Tanah Bumbu, fourth South Hulu Sungai, the fifth is Tabalong, and the sixth North Hulu Sungai," he said.

While the favorite winner is Nuriah in Tahfiz 20 Juz branch from Banjar District.

As many as 619 participants with 12 caravans from districts and cities throughout South Kalimantan took part in the MTQ.

The competitions that were contested consisted of hifzil Qur'an, Qur'an interpretation, writing the contents of the Al Qur'an, and memorizing hadist. Also fahmil Quran, and khattil Quran.

"Thank you for the trust given to Tanah Bumbu as the host of the MTQN for South Kalimantan level in 2021," he said.

For Tanah Bumbu, Zairullah continued, this MTQ is the beginning of a struggle toward a better future, because Insya Allah (God Willing) starting this year 149 tahfiz houses will be built in all villages in Tanah Bumbu.

"Hopefully Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala will grant intentions and aspiration to make Tanah Bumbu as the Veranda of Medina," said Zairullah.

Meanwhile, acting Governor Safrizal ZA, at the closing of the 33rd MTQN of South Kalimantan gave a two-finger thumbs-up, which means that the implementation of MTQ in Tanah Bumbu was the best in South Kalimantan.

Safrizal also congratulated the winner of the competition who later will represent South Kalimantan at the national level.
