COVID-19 positive cases in Kotabaru District continue to increase, the latest data on Saturday (Feb 20, 2021) recorded 14 fresh cases, but on the same day 23 patient were declared recovered.

Data released by Kotabaru government through its Health Agency recorded a total of 1,215 residents of Bumi Saijaan (Kotabaru's nickname) were exposed to coronavirus, as many as 974 had recovered, and 40 people died.

While 201 are still undergoing treatment, 43 people in the quarantine of Stagen Hospital, 21 at the Pangeran Jaya Sumitra (PJS) Hospital.

A number of patients are undergoing treatment outside the district, namely, at the Pangeran Sebaya Hospital in East Kalimantan 1, Andi Abdurrahman Noor Hospital in Tanah Bumbu 2, Ulin Hospital in Banjarmasin 1, and some are in a special quarantine of the police detention.

There are 89 positive COVID-19 patients undergoing independent isolation.

Acting Head of Kotabaru Health Agency Hj Ernawati noted in a press release that one person, who had previously been declared recovered, was again exposed to the virus and is now subjected to independent isolation.

Member of Kotabaru DPRD's Commission III Denny Hendro Kurnianto expressed his concern about the high number of COVID-19 case in Bumi Saijaan. He strongly support the strict and comprehensive implementation of social restriction on community activities (PPKM) in Kotabaru.

"We really support the strict implementation of PPKM throughout Kotabaru. This is intended to prevent the transmission of coronavirus which has recently showing an increasing trend," said Denny.
