The South Kalimantan Provincial Police (Polda Kalsel) empowered Kampung Tangguh Banua (the local resilient neighborhood) to support the implementation of micro-scale public activity restriction (PPKM mikro) set by the government.

"Indeed, South Kalimantan is not directly affected by the program of micro-scale PPKM, but we make a balance to support central government policy," said South Kalimantan Police Chief Inspector General Rikwanto in Banjarmasin.

He instructed the city and district police to re-activate Kampung Tangguhs, which has been the pioneer of the active role of community in the smallest areas, namely RT (neighborhood units) or RW (community units) in the efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 in South Kalimantan.

"I ask Bhabinkamtibmas (village or urban village supervisory officer) to monitor their residents of the village under their guidance exposed to COVID-19. If the case is high enough, then the micro PPKM at the RT or RW level can be applied with public awareness," he said.

The South Kalimantan Provincial Police also prepared Bhabinkamtibmas to be a tracer with the duty of tracing the close contacts of positive confirmed patients.

Vaccinators from South Kalimantan Police's Health and Medical Division and district police's health care, including medical personnel at the Bhayangkara Hoegeng Imam Santoso Hospital Banjarmasin were also prepared.

"This is the commitment of the National Police (Polri) to support the government effort to tackle the spread of COVID-19 in Indonesia. Tracers and vaccinators from South Kalimantan Provincial Police have been trained and alerted in assisting the duties of health workers, especially in giving vaccination to members of Polri and the public," he said.
