Paringin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Four government agencies in Balangan go togather to resolve Batumandi river conditions which is dirty and smelly.
Head of Public Relations of Balangan Government Taufiqurrahman in Paringin on Friday said the four institutions involved in handling the river are Environment Agency and Health (BLHK), Agency of Agriculture and Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Health Agency and taps company.
"Batumandi river water sampling has been taken to be brought to the laboratory to know exactly its contents and to be resolved," said Taufiqurrahman.
Environmental agency also took samples of water from upstream in the condition of running water, smelling and many piles of garbage.
In the upstream, the water just flows on the side, while the middle of the river not flowing, dirty, muddy and lots of garbage. Then at the downstream water flows seem rather clear and visible, he explained.
Taufiq explained, Batumandi river during the dry season is murky and not flowing, and this is compounded by the bad habits of people throwing garbage into the river.
In fact, according to Taufiq, communities still rely and use the river water for daily use for bathing and washing and defecation, and some even use for drinking and cooking.
Head of Disease Control and Environmental Health at Balangan Health Agency, Dr. Hj Adawiyah, who came to the location directly providing health education related to the importance of clean and healthy behaviors (PHBs) and distributing ORS.
"Nothing vomiting or itching just complaints such as fever, diarrhea, and cough and cold, but still we are alert for the prevention of other diseases," he said.
Head of the Agriculture and Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Agency Tuhalus also down directly to the spot, spraying cage and giving antibiotics for treating poultry.
"Villae chicken is longer durability than farm chicken, but the effect is dirty stagnant water, especially during this transition season, they could die," he explained.
