Banjarmasin Police Chief Sr Comr (Kombes) Rachmat Hendrawan, SIK, MM stated that according to the COVID-19 Task Force circular, entertainment facilities (THM) will be closed for three days throughout Christmas 2020 and New Year 2021 holidays.


"This decision was taken based on a virtual joint meeting of the COVID-19 Task Force in which involved three-pillar, namely the city government, TNI (military), and Polri (police)," said the police chief here on Monday.

The nightlife facilities to be closed include discotheques, pubs, karaoke, hotel cafes, and billiard halls.

While restaurants and public cafes are still allowed to open, but operating hours are until 22.00 WITA (Central Indonesia Time).

The police chief said that the closure of night entertainments during the Christmas holidays runs on December 24, 25, and 26, 2020.

While for the New Year holiday, the facilities will be closed from December 31, 2020, to January 2, 2021.

In addition, Sr Comr Rachmat, who was accompanied by Commander of 1007 Banjarmasin Military Command Col. Czi M Leo Pola Ardiansa S, prohibits crowd activities during 2020 Christmas and 2021 New Year celebration.

All of this is carried out as an effort to mitigate the spike in COVID-19 cases, thus it is necessary to increase the implementation of discipline and law enforcement of health protocol according to Mayor's Decree No 68 of 2020.

"We also re-intensifying discipline and sanction in all urban villages on neighborhood unit (RT) level by public order officers (Satpol PP), city police, 1007 Military Command, and Transportation Agency," he said after the 2020 Lilin Intan Centralized Operation ceremony at the Kamboja Field, Monday (Dec 21, 2020) morning.
