Regent of Central Hulu Sungai (HST) HA Chairansyah declared to the public that the government will not give permission to any activities in welcoming the New Year 2021.

The regent appealed to his residents to refrain from traveling anywhere. If they insist on going to tourist attractions or public places, he asked them to comply with the health protocol so as not to cause a new cluster of COVID-19, especially in HST.

"The COVID-19 problem in our area has not yet sloped, therefore all must be role models in enforcing health protocol and taking part in the campaign," said Chairansyah after attending the 2020 Operasi Lilin (Candlelight Operation) ceremony at the HST Police headquarters, Monday (Dec 21, 2020).

HST Police Chief Adj Sr Comr (AKBP) Danang Widaryanto said that the Operasi Lilin runs from December 21, 2020, to January 4, 2021, or for 15 days.

In accordance with the direction of the National Police Chief, he said, the security should not be considered an ordinary annual routine agenda, so as not to make us tend to underestimate and be less aware of every dynamic of development in the community.

"Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have to be more concerned. Don't let the christmas and new year activities cause new clusters of COVID-19," he said.

Operasi Lilin in the district deploys 160 personnel on alert. The operation this time pays more attention on the implementation of health protocol at public places, places of worship, and tourist attractions.
