The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded South Kalimantan posted an export value of US$352,63 million in October 2020 or increased by 7.34 percent compared to September's export of US$328,52 million.
Head of the South Kalimantan BPS M Edy Mahmud in Banjarbaru City on Tuesday said if compared to the export value in October 2019 which was US$686,43 million, the October 2020 export value downed by 48.63 percent.
"The South Kalimantan trade balance was encouraging in October 2020 as it posted a surplus of 319,07 million US dollars," said Mahmud in a monthly press conference held virtually from his office.
He mentioned the most exported commodity groups were mineral fuels (HS 27) group 258,66 million US dollars with the largest export destination China at a value of 74,09 million US dollars.
The second highest value of South Kalimantan export in October 2020 was Japan 44,65 million US dollars, then India 44,34 million US dollars, Pakistan 34,72 million US dollars, and Malaysia 32,58 million US dollars.

Meanwhile, the import value in October 2020 was 33,56 million US dollars or down by 15.59 percent compared to September 2020 which reached 39,75 million US dollars.
When compared to the import value in October 2019 which was 78,60 million US dollars, it was fell 57.31 percent.
The most import commodity was the mineral fuel group valued at 25.59 million US dollars and the country of origin with the largest import was Singapore 25.29 million US dollars.
Starting in 2020, the export value is calculated according to the province's export of origin, while the import value is calculated according to import data recorded at the Banjarmasin and Kotabaru customs and excise office.
