The 1002 Barabai District Military Command (Kodim 1002/Barabai) conducted planting of 200 seeds of various plants in two natural attractions, Riam Bejandik and Pulau Mas, in Batu Benawa Sub-district, Central Hulu Sungai (HST), Friday (Nov 20, 2020).

"Kodim 1002 Barabai is collaborating with the HST Environment and Transportation Agency, Polri (the police), and the scout Saka Wira Kartika in planting trees," said Acting Operational Officer of the district miitary (Pasi Opsdim) Capt. Andi Tiro.

Head of the HST Environment and Transportation Agency Muhammad Yani through one of head of division Ramhatullah said, the agency highly appreciated the tree planting activity initiated by Kodim 1002/Barabai.

He explained that Riam Bajandik natural tourism took advantage of river water from Meratus Mountains. This means that TNI (military) and the community love Meratus as a source of water and a source of life.

"We can only facilitate tree planting activities by providing seeds, including cempadak seeds, sengon trees, candlenut, and ketapang kencana to be planted in parking lots, thus the natural attractions will be more beautiful and can improve the economy of the community," he said.

Commander of 1002 Barabai District Military Command Lt.Col. Inf. Muh Ishak H Baharuddin through Acting Officer of the Territorial Capt.Inf. Moh Alip Suroso added that this activity was to help the government protect and preserve the environment and to reduce the impact of global warming.

"Also as a form of concern and seriousness of the TNI together with the government play an active role in realizing a just and prosperous life for indonesian people without causing environmental damage in accordance with the sustainable development program with the concept of environmentally sound development," he said.
