The Kotabaru Legislative Council (DPRD) will make a maximum effort for the relief of post-fire on Jalan Patmaraga, Kotabaru Tengah Urban Village, including lobbying the provincial and central government.

Speaker of the DPRD Syairi Mukhlis said the council will involve the provincial and central government in the handling and re-structuring the location of the ex-fire considering the limited financial capacity of the district.

"We will lobby the provincial and central government, including the Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry in restructuring the location and the Social Ministry regarding the relief of victims," he said, Monday.

Meanwhile, the Kotabaru government will allocate a budget to rent houses for the victim of the fire disaster that razed 126 houses in five neighborhood units (RT) on Jl Patmaraga, Kotabaru Tengah, Pulaulaut Sigam Sub=district, last Friday.

It was delivered at a post-disaster handling coordination meeting attended by Acting Regent of Kotabaru M Syarifuddin, DPRD Speaker Syairi Mukhlis, regional secretary, and Forkopimda (Regional Leaders Coordination Forum) and the related government agencies.

Syairi said the meeting resulted in several conclusions regarding post-disaster handling, both the short and long term.

"The short-term handling, in addition to public kitchen and providing assistance, we will allocate from the local budget (APBD) the cost of renting houses for the victims within three months," said Syairi.

Then, for the long-term handling, Syairi described the restructuring by re-building the houses with an environmentally friendly concept, such as easy access in case of disaster.

"The Kotabaru Public Housing Office will make DED (Detail Engineering Design) as a masterplan for the restructuring of the ex-fire area," he said.
