The Banjarmasin State Polytechnic (Poliban) robotic team has created a drug and food delivery robot to suport services for COVID-19 patients in hospitals.

The rectangular robot with four wheels that is operated using remote control named Antasari, after the name of a national hero from South Kalimantan, the Prince of Antasari. 

The Antasari robot, which the Poliban developed in collabration with the Islamic Hospital of Banjarmasin, was introduced in front of the headquarters of the Poliban, Wedneday.

"The robot was created with the hope of helping hospitals treat COVID-19 patients in particular," said the Director Poliban Joniriadi.

"If it is effective for hospitals, it is helpful, then we can multiply it," he added.

According to Joniriadi, the Banjarmasin Polytechnic students previously made several type of robot, such as fire fghting robot and soccer player robot.

Chief of the robotic team Andi Muhammad explained that the Antasari robot was one meter high, a half meter wide, wighed about 30 kg. It was made using aluminium, zinc, glass, and has a place to put food and drinks for patients.

"This robot walks forth and back, right and left, for a distance of about 100 meters," said Andi.

Andi and friends built the robot with two batteries for about one and a half month and planned to perfect it. "It can be modified later," he said.
