Two sub-districts in Tapin, Candi Laras Utara (CLU) and Candi Laras Selatan (CLS), are prepared to become industrial development areas.

Tapin DPRD Speaker H Yamani said, the two subdistricts were chosen for the reason they were in coastal areas, which currently are potential locations as economic gateways in the district.

"We want to make the coastal area of the river as industrial development in Tapin," he said.

It is hoped that the industrial development in Tapin will absorb at least 75 percent of local people as workforce. "Of course we want to open the widest possible job opportunities for the Tapin community," he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Regent H Syafruddin Noor said that the government should encourage the economy to improve people's welfare.

"We will encourage Tapin Industry Office to accelerate the preparation of industrial plan in planned areas," he said.

The deputy regent added that currently he and the regent strive to realize the industrial development vision of Tapin that is superior, innovative, independent, and highly competitive in 2041.

CLS and CLU sub-districts are the center of weaving handicrafts in Tapin, and here infrastructure development, such as national roads, continues to be pushed.

This is where the port of loading and unloading of mining products is located and in the future a road to be built to penetrate the South Hulu Sungai Regency and the Central Kalimantan Province.
