Three sub-districts in Tapin Regency carried out a joint harvest with a total area of 14 hectares.


Head of Tapin Agriculture Office Wagimin said the farmers have succeeded to produce up to 9.2 tons shallots per hectare in this joint harvest.

"The 14 hectare (of shallot) harvested today are scattered in the sub-districts of Bungur, Binuang, and Hatungun," he said during the harvest in Purut Village, Bungur Sub-district.

Wagimin said, this year's shallot farming results in Tapin werevery good, thus it could produce 8.2 tons to 9.2 tons per hectare.

"The shallot yield will be sold for market needs, and also as seeds for the next planting season," he said.

Wagimin added, that the development of shallots covering an area of 14 hectares was assistance from the District Budget to fund 6.1 tons seed, which was taken from Bima Brebes and Super Philip types.

Shallot is the mainstay agriculture product of Tapin, it even has entered the export market. The center of shallot are in four sub-districts, namely Hatungun, Binuang, Piani, and Tapin Selatan.

Besides shallot, Tapin has also Hiyung chili as its mainstay agriculture product. The chili is very known for its spiciness. It has entered the Spanish and Japan markets.
