The Ministry of Social Affairs through the Budi Luhur Social Rehabilitation Center Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, has distributed non-cash assistance in the form of a bank account book for person with mental health disorder (ODGJ) in North Hulu Sungai (HSU).
Head of the center Herry Pawoto here on Wednesday said, the social assistance quota for South Kalimantan every year in only 50 people.
"Why only 10 ODGJ in HSU receive the social assistance from the ministry, because South Kalimantan only get a quota of 50 people," he said.
Herry said the allocation of assistance for ODGJ in HSU was the largest compared to other districts and cities in the province, because the number of ODGJ in HSU was quite large, namely 407.
The assistance worth Rp2,000,000 per person was distributed based on the proposal from the families of the ODGJ, also called as people with disabilities, which is only for business capital to develop.
"The government hopes this assistance can improve the welfare of families and people with disabilities," Herry said.
Head of HSU Social Agency Rizali Eswansyah said, ODGJs who received assistance met the requirements among hundreds of other ODGJs.
"It was difficult to determine 10 people who entitled to receive the assistance out of 407 ODGJs in HSU, but thanks to the help of village heads, chiefs of neighborhood units (RT), and sub-district social workers, it could be verified that they deserved priority for assistance," explained Rizali, who was accompanied by Head of Rehabilitation Hj Rahmiati.
The ODGJ who received assistance from Home Care program were those whose families have productive business, such as fishery, trading, and so on.
