Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - South Kalimantan Governor Rudy Ariffin will ask the Ministry of Energy to facilitate a meeting between the government and investors to talk about potential and exploitation of the gas-rich island of Lerek-lerekan.


Governor in Banjarmasin on Tuesday said the meeting is very important to further discuss the steps that should be done by all parties concerned, after the return of the island to South Kalimantan since the last few years dispute with the West Sulawesi.

"We will seek opportunities to conduct meetings and talks with the EMR as well as the company, to discuss the potential and the exploitation of the island," he said.

According to the Governor, some time ago, South Kalimantan provincial government has received a decision letter from the Ministry of Interior that the Island officially entry Kotabaru district, South Kalimantan.

It's just that, he said, against the decision, West Sulawesi, submitted a letter to the Ministry of Internal Affairs to conduct repeated measurements related boundaries between the islands.

"But for the final status of the territory already entered Kotabaru district, it can not be tampered with," he said.

Only, he added, is related to profit of the result of the exploitation . Under the laws of Mining, West Sulawesi, as a neighbor, also will get profit-sharing with a certain amount in accordance with the conditions set.
