Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - A total of 11 students of SMAN (State High School) 1  Mulawarman, Banjarmasin, suspected poisoning after eating fried rice at the school canteen, Monday.


The local Health Agency was confirmed about the accident when visiting the victims at Suaka Insan Hospital's.

Information gathered at the hospital's, there are 10 SMAN 1 Mulawarman students are in intensive care. The other one has been allowed to go home. Such data as recorded by the Banjarmasin Health Agency, but the health office was not willing to give information, because it is still under investigation.

But one of the parents, Henry M admits his son who was sitting in class 12 received treatment for a suspected food poisoning.

"He said when the second break, he ate fried rice at the school canteen, after that he threw up," he said, quoting his son.

Banjarmasin police are moving quickly, though not given a report by the school. "Currently, we are conducting an investigation regarding the case of alleged poisoning," said Chief of Central Banjarmasin
Sector Police, Commissioner Raymod Marceleno Massengi.

"For these investigations, we continue to request information from the relevant parties at school. Likewise canteen manager, a person who put fried rice requested as a witness," he said.

According to him, it is not certain whether their fried rice cause poisoning or from other materials. "Hence, sauces, cooking spices, former food and vomit we take as a sample to be submitted to the BPOM," he said.
