Kotabaru Regent H Sayed Jafar appreciated the preparedness of Bumi Asih Village, Kelumpang Selatan Sub-district, in dealing with COVID-19 pandemic. The village is considered the best Kampung Tangguh Banua (resilient village) in the district.
"Alhamdulillah today we inaugurate Kampung Tangguh Banua in Bumi Asih Village. This is the tenth we have inaugurated and this is we consider as the best tough village (kampung tangguh) in Kotabaru," said H Sayed Jafar in his remarks, Thursday.
Previously, nine resilient villages were declared spread across a number of sub-districts, with the aim to break the chain of transmission and preventing the spread of coronavirus.
He said that Kampung Tangguh Banua was not only ceremonial but to motivate residents to work together to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

In addition to inaugurating Bumi Asih's resilient village, the regent together with the District Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) symbolically distributed assistance to elderly, uninhabitable houses (Rutilahu), people with disabilities, tilapia fish seeds, and also vests to COVID-19 volunteers of the Bumi Asih.
Head of the Bumi Asih village Supardi said, many factors were involved to design the Bumi Asih as the Kampung Tangguh Banua, including self-sufficiency in food availability, health care, environment, and security.
"Bumi Asih is a village that is responsive to every dynamic of community life, including the coronavirus outbreak. Since the beginning, (residents) independently established volunteer post by implementing village quarantine independently," he said.
