The Kotabaru Legislative Council (DPRD) hopes that Pulau Laut bridge project to be included in the next year's National Legislation Program (Prolegnas) priority list so as to ensure the continuation of the longest bridge in Indonesia.
The Kotabaru DPRD speaker Syairi Mukhlis said the district council had confirmed to the provincial government as well as the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) related to the continuation of the construction of Pulau Laut bridge.
"We have confirmed it to the provincial government as well as central government. Based on the information of the Ministry of PUPR regarding the bridge there is a change in the Detail Engineering Design (DED), it has been completed and will be included in the 2021 State Budget (APBN)," Syairi said.
To ensure the continuation of the 3,5 kilometers long bridge that connects Kotabaru with Tanah Bumbu District, the DPRD hopes that it will be included in the prolegnas.
As a follow-up to the acceleration of the bridge construction, he said, the issue has been taken over by the PUPR.
Previously, Chairman of PPP fraction Denny Hendro Kurnianto, when he was still,leading the Commission III of the DPRD, urged the local government to be more proactive in coordinating with the provincial as well as central government related to budgeting for the bridge construction and the realization of the Special Economic Zone (KEK) in Kotabaru.
He suggested the local government, both district and provincial, to complete the requirements to convince the central government to realize the project that the local people have long been waiting for.
