Regent H Sayed Jafar said that the Kotabaru fishermen should develop and ready to compete as they now have their office in the district.
"Our fishermen must be able to develop, and ready to compete with other fishermen," he said as he inaugurated the Kotabaru chapter of the Indonesian Fishermen's Association (HNSI) office here, Tuesday (August 11, 2020).
The regent said this association must be able to grow and develop, not only ceremonial, but its existence is beneficial for fishermen in the district.
"Use this place as well as possible to sit together to convey aspirations and problems, and always coordinate with related agencies," he advised.
Head of HNSI South Kalimantan Hj Suriatinah hoped that the HNSI office will not only be a secretariat but should be utilized more, such as a place to sell fishermen's products.
Meanwhile, Head of Kotabaru chapter of HNSI H Ibrahim expressed his gratitude to the local government for providing place for HNSI office. "Thank you for the place provided. Previously our office was at the Fisheries Agency," he said.
