The district government of Barito Kuala (Batola), South Kalimantan, planned to buy a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) for quick identification of COVID-19 cases among the community. 

"The PCR purchase is to speed up the diagnosis of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) through swab test," said Regent Hj Noormiliyani AS after receiving a visit of PCR vendor from a Swiss company, Thursday (July 2, 2020). She was accompanied by Deputy Regent H Rahmadian Noor and Acting Regional H Abdul Manaf. 

The PCR vendor came to the regent's office to present the benefits and use of the tools.

The regent hopes by having PCR equipment the district can quickly identify COVID-19 cases among the people and can immediately take further steps and actions.   

“Our obstacle now before someone is decided to be quarantined or not takes a long time. This is dangerous, if someone is positive then he travel can cause the transmission to others,” said Noormiliyani.

According to the plan, she said, the PCR equipment will be operated at the District Hospital of Abdul Aziz Marabahan.
