Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - Banjarmasin City Government intends to maximally utilize it waste landfill (TPA) for biogas.
Head of the Banjarmasin Environment Agency (BLH) H Hamdi said this to Antaranews on the sidelines of the Adipura Monitoring Team monitoring TPA Basirih on Wednesday.
Former Head of the Hygiene and Gardening (DKP) was pointing electricity for street lighting lamps in the TPA Basirih was a product of the mounting rubbish.
To the monitoring team of the Ministry of Environment and other elements of monitoring, he demonstrated flames coming from the gas waste products.
"The flame of the garbage gas could be use for cooking rice, boiling water and other cooking purposes . Therefore we (City Government) will attempt to make taps/pipes to distribute the gas to the community, especially around the landfill Basirih," he said.
"The content/gas potential in the landfill has not meased yet, but we believe the potential will be able to meet the needs of the community, though not entirely," said Hamdi.
Basirih landfill located on Ring Road or Jalan Governor Subardjo Banjarmasin about six kilometers from the city center. It extent of 200,000 hectares.
While the bins are supplied to the landfill Basirih millions of tons per year derived from household waste, market/shops and others, which is part of the wet waste/organic processed into compost/fertilizer.
Composting at the landfill per day is 500 kilograms and can still be optimized further, he said.
