Head of South Kalimantan Forestry Agency (Dishut Kalsel) Hanif Faisol Nurofiq asked all his ranks to take precaution measures to prevent forest and land fire as the dry season arrives.

Hanif in Banjarbaru on Tuesday said, the entire team in the field must anticipate, among others, by making lanes or firebreaks to protect plants from fire.

Some forestry tourism sites, he said, must also begin to be cleared from flammable rubbish to minimize the risk of forest and land fires.

Previously, Hanif made a working visit to river basin (DAS) rehabilitation area in Bukit Batu Sungai Luar or better known as Bukit Batu and forest area utilization permits (IPPKH) location of Sungai Danau Jaya.

Hanif accompanied by Head of the Sultan Adam Public Forest Park (Tahura) and several Forestry Agency officials observed various economic plants, such as cashew, eucalyptus, and banyan, which were planted using block compost.

"I ask the IPPKH PT Sungai Danau Jaya to immediately make a firebreak in facing the dry season and tidy up the plant path," he said.

According to Hanif, the plants have been seen to grow well, so it is time for field officers to make plant paths and firebreaks. The location of these plants must really be safe from fire.

He added that the Bukit Batu Sungai Luar tourist attraction must also be clean of rubbish, especially plastic, both at spots and on the lips of the lake.
