Kotabaru seems to have begun to enjoy its hydroponic farming which is implemented by the Agriculture Office in collaboration with the local Family Welfare Movement (PKK) and plans to develop it in villages.

"Vegetable planting with the hydroponic concept is good enough, so it will be developed in villages in Kotabaru District," said Regent H Sayed Jafar on the sideline of hydroponic vegetable harvest on Thursday.

He expected that each village in the Kotabaru to develop vegetable crops by applying the hydroponic system, until later the "Bumi Saijaan" (nickname of Kotabaru) becomes a vegetable barn.

"We have four centers of agriculture, namely Pulau Laut Tengah, Berangas in Pulau Laut Timur, Pudi in Kelumpang Utara, and Bakau in Pamukan Utara, each with 25 hectares, and we will compete," he said.
