Jamaah Tabligh (Tablighi Jamaat) in South Kalimantan is committed in supporting the government's effort to break the chain of COVID-19 by complying with the government and ulamas' call.

"As far as possible we are following what the government and ulama have said," said Ustadz Eko Purwanto Abdul Wahid, one of the Jamaah Tabligh in Banjarmasin, Thursday (April 23, 2020).

In accordance with the joint call of the South Kalimantan Office of Religious Affairs Ministry, the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of the province and the Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI) of South Kalimantan, JT has negated religious activities with many congregations.

"For those who want to pray at the mosque are asked to bring their own prayer rugs and must wear a mask. Shaking is temporarily abolished to maintain a distance so as not to touch each other," said Eko, who claimed to have undergone coronavirus test three times all with negative results.

As a form of concern to JT adherents who were also affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the South Kalimantan Police's Director of Intelligence and Security (Intelkam) Sr Comr (Kombes) Hajat Mabrur provided food packages.

Head of Sub-directorate IV of State Security Adj Sr Comr (AKBP) Asep Hidayat representing the director of Intelkam, handed over the assistance to Ustadz Eko Purwanto Abdul Wahid, who was accompanied by H Abdul Rahman, a person in charge of Ijtima Ulama in Gowa, which was eventually canceled because it took place in the midst of COVID-19 outbreak.

"Hopefully what we provide can ease the burden of our brothers affected by the coronavirus pandemic. As we welcome Ramadhan, this is also as silaturahmi from us to Jamaah Tabligh," Asep Hidayat said.
